For the last year, I have been taking private instruction from Laura Robb, an incredible artist. This is a very different method of painting than my previous technique. I am enjoying the stimulation of learning valuable new methods relating to my paintings. These are some of the images in the new style.

Still Life

My absolutely favorite things to paint are still lifes. I start by 'seeing' the set up in my mind and then I really enjoy finding the pieces to pull it all together. Setting up still Life is the only thing in my life I have full control over!

Landscapes

I have been painting plain air for 10 years and still find it enjoyably difficult. I prefer to paint at a 'moody' time of day, sunrise or sunset, since green is my least favorite color to paint.

Animals

Sometimes when I do my still life, I want to incorporate a live animal- either my dog 'Kat',a blue heeler, or 'Pouncer', my grand-cat. I guess that would make them a 'not-so-still-life'...

Egg Tempera

Egg tempera is so accomodating and permanent. I love the process of mixing the colors with the egg medium. Unfortunately, I can only do a couple pieces a year as fine details are harder on my eyes.
